International Linkage Community or ILC is a programme that was first established in 2015. It started as a smart partnership among sister schools and other schools from different countries in order to provide a platform for students to learn to understand each other and live together as global citizens.
G-LEAD ILC for university students is a platform that provides exposures to the university students globally where they are able to interact with international university students, understand the different religions, cultures and ways of life.
In other words, G-LEAD ILC encompasses education for international understanding under three main focus:
G-LEAD: International Linkage Community For University Students is open to participants from the ages of 19 – 24.
Programme participation for international university students is eight days and seven nights (8D 7N) and for local university students is five days and four nights (5D 4N).
Actual face-to-face programme involving all local and international university students will be held at a local hotel or appropriate venue for five days and four nights (5D 4N).
After the programme, international university students will have the opportunity to visit Kuala Lumpur and places of interest, to experience local culture and way of life, before they travel back to their home countries.
Teachers are encouraged to accompany their students when they travel in groups under their schools.
Parents are also encouraged to travel with their children and special local tour will be organised. Parents will be with their children during the opening and award ceremony, as well as during the tour organised for students after the programme.
All local travel arrangement for students, teachers and parents will be managed by OBS Academy.
G-LEAD ILC OBJECTIVES:
- Establish an international network;
- Provide opportunities for university students from various countries to communicate and learn to live together;
- Promote and learn integrity, leadership and culture of various countries, regardless of nationality, religion and race;
- Nurture and inculcate a sense of responsibility, and trust among participants; and
- Enhance the efficiency of leadership, communication and language skills among participants.
